Piel atópica, ¿Qué es?

Atopic skin, what is it?

Atopic skin, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a disease in which the skin is unable to stay hydrated on its own, leading to dry, sensitive and very easily irritable skin.

The skin has a barrier that protects it from external agents (such as environmental pollutants, for example), and to maintain the protective barrier, constant hydration is required.

In the case of atopic dermatitis, the barrier that is supposed to protect the skin is not able to retain the hydration necessary to protect us, so external agents come into contact with our unprotected skin, causing adverse reactions, skin irritation and constant itching.

Causes of atopic dermatitis:

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic disease that is usually due to a genetic factor, although a person with atopic dermatitis can go for years and years without realizing that they have this skin condition.

People who suffer from atopic skin also often have allergies related to the respiratory system, such as allergies to dust or pollen.

They also tend to suffer adverse reactions to certain types of clothing (such as polyester) and certain types of foods (such as chocolate or very spicy or spicy foods).

Different levels of atopic dermatitis:

Just as all skin is different, atopic dermatitis also affects different people at different levels.

There are people with dermatitis whose skin becomes irritated seasonally or when they are under a lot of pressure or stress.

At the same time, there are also people who have severe atopic dermatitis that requires specialized medical treatments that can range from corticosteroids, immunosuppressive pills, UVA rays or injections to keep the dermatitis under control.

Most people with dermatitis can keep their skin under control with parapharmacy creams, such as Treatment for sensitive and atopic skin from GGcare, a treatment that consists of a pack with our Purifying Soapy Shower Oil, is a shower oil that disinfects and hydrates the skin in daily hygiene, and our Soothing Body Cream, is a moisturizing cream that calms and reduces inflammation of sensitive and irritated skin.

*No “cure” has been found for atopic dermatitis, atopic skin is a chronic disease that is kept under control with consistency, medical treatment if necessary and following a style of specific life. Before taking any medication or applying corticosteroids, make an appointment with your dermatologist.*
