Alergia primaveral y cómo combatirla

Spring allergies and how to combat them

Allergies are immune responses of our body to external agents that it considers aggressive, harmful or dangerous for our organism.

In spring, all trees and plants expand, sprout and produce pollen, which, although it is an essential element for their development, can cause extortion in some people. This pollen remains suspended in the air during this time of year, causing allergies or pollinosis in many cases. Approximately 15% of the world's population is allergic to pollen.

The body mistakes pollen for invading germs and activates the production of histamine to defend itself, thus producing an immune response that causes a series of reactions such as:

  • At the nasal level: inflammation, sneezing, itching, congestion, discharge.
  • Conjunctivitis and eye irritation.
  • Itching in the throat and palate.
  • On the skin: redness, itching and rashes.

There are other causes that produce allergic reactions that affect the skin and respiratory tract, such as reactions to dust, environmental pollution and food, but these allergic reactions occur during all seasons of the year, whereas pollinosis or pollen allergy only occurs in spring and part of summer.

From GGcare we give you 10 recommendations that you can follow to protect your body from spring pollen:

  1. Stay indoors as much as possible on days with the highest pollen count, especially on windy days.
  2. Worst pollen times: in the morning from 5:00 to 10:00 and in the afternoon from 19:00 to 22:00, the highest concentration of pollen accumulates. Avoid being outside at these times or keeping the windows closed at home.
  3. Car: Close the car windows on days and times when pollen concentration is highest.
  4. Filters: Place pollen filters in the air conditioning at home and in the car.
  5. Protection with sunglasses for your eyes, and a mask or scarf to protect your throat and respiratory tract.
  6. Fabrics attract pollen : Pollen grains get trapped in clothing, so when you get home, it is best to change clothes and shower to remove any traces of pollen from your body.
  7. Yard work: Avoid actions that may stir up pollen, such as mowing, sweeping, etc.
  8. Your plants: Avoid having plants that pollinate by air.
  9. At night, outside, it is best not to sleep near trees and plants.
  10.  Professional consultation: If you are sensitive to the effects of pollen, consult a doctor or pharmacist to relieve the symptoms that cause the allergy.

For allergic skin reactions we recommend using our Soothing Body Cream , made with ingredients that instantly soothe the itching and irritation caused by any type of allergy.
