Study of 93 cancer patients

Pre-production dermatological study: Testing on 93 cancer patients

Situation:

  • GGcare was born from the idea of caring for the well-being of women who, due to various circumstances, require special attention to their health and, consequently, their skin. Following our core principle of providing COMPLETE HEALTH to IMPROVE WELL-BEING IN EVERY WAY, we wanted to ensure that GGcare's new products fulfill our objectives.
  • To verify and ensure the effectiveness of the new products, as well as to guarantee that they produce satisfaction and well-being through their use, we decided to conduct a study of the products in women affected by cancer. We surveyed a sample of 93 women who were undergoing different types of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. These 93 women are patients of:
  • Dr. Pere Gascón, an oncologist at the Hospital Clínico in Barcelona.
  • Radiologist Dr. Pilar Manchón from the Manchón Diagnostic Imaging Center in Barcelona.

GGcare products used and objectives:

1) Tinted Moisturizing Day Cream, Illuminating - SPF20: Product Objective: To give women well-hydrated and restored skin. To achieve a luminous, healthy appearance and make them feel attractive. Aromatherapy.

2) NIGHT CREAM, regenerating: Product Objective: To repair and rebalance the skin and provide great comfort at bedtime. Aromatherapy.

3) BODY CREAM, soothing: Product Objective: To soothe itching all over the body caused by the side effects of chemotherapy, as a consequence of the treatment's toxicity. Aromatherapy.

4) Purifying Shower Soap Oil: Product Objective: To hydrate and regenerate the skin, even during showering, providing comfort thanks to its soap-like oil format. Aromatherapy.

5) REPAIRING, SOOTHEALING OIL: Product Purpose: Oil designed to be applied immediately after radiotherapy treatments to relieve burning sensations and subsequently to treat burns caused by the treatment. It can also be applied to any type of burn. Aromatherapy.

Procedure: Three different tests have been performed:

  • For the first test, initial product samples were manufactured for patients to try. After this first test, and based on patient feedback, the necessary adjustments and modifications were made to achieve the objectives set for each product.
  • A second product development process was carried out with the necessary corrections, and a second test was performed. The objectives were achieved for four of the five products in the line.
  • For the Repair Oil, intended for burns, it was necessary to carry out a 3rd sample and a 3rd test to achieve the objectives we had set for ourselves.

Result

The following graph shows the total number of women in the study sample and the grouping made according to the product tested.

  • In this study, all women have the same needs; therefore, each woman is different in every test. This way, they were not influenced by the fact that they didn't have to compare products.
  • This second graph shows the degree of effectiveness obtained in each of the tests carried out on the women who participated in this product test.
  • In the chart we see how the soapy shower oil is the product that achieves 100% effectiveness in the 1st test, while the day cream, the night cream and the calming cream, we achieve this 100% in the 2nd test of the samples.
  • This is the burn oil for radiotherapy where we achieved 100% effectiveness in the third modification and product test. In this third phase, this oil was also tested on a conventional burn, obtaining a satisfactory soothing and restorative effect.

Conclusion

  • Absolutely all the products in the new GGcare line ended up having 100% effectiveness in the women who participated in the study.
  • The level of satisfaction and comfort produced by the products is reflected in the final comments, where we also achieved a 100% rating.
